Presented by The Brixton Project
The Be Enriched Food Bus will have an array of food-related activities for everyone to take part in over the course of their 3-day visit to Brockwell Bounce. This will include Caribbean fruit tasting, mini sessions to create your own dips and dressings plus games and quizzes to participate in. There will be the opportunity to visit our mobile grocery store or grab some light refreshments to enjoy on board our top-deck café. They will also be partnering with friends from ‘Too Good to Go’ to host some exclusive workshops.
Be Enriched and Brixton People’s Kitchen are South London-based charity and social enterprise, respectively, that aim to enrich communities through food. They deliver a range of projects, from Community Canteens, where volunteers turn surplus food into a meal for those who need it, to holiday programmes to support youngsters, as well as The London Food Bus. For 10 years, both organisations have worked together, and separately, to tackle food waste, culminate spaces for people to come together and encourage community cohesion. BPK’s Community Shop and Cafe supports over 250 households a week with affordable meals, fresh food, groceries and free school meals, plus, teaches cooking skills and nutritional education, empowering communities through food and skill sharing. Alongside this, Be Enriched continues to run London’s most exciting and innovative food project yet – The Food Bus. The bus is Be Enriched’s most enterprising work so far, a double-decker bus, converted and designed to take healthy, affordable food to those who have very limited access to it. The bottom section of the bus has a greengrocer stocking fruit, vegetables and household items, while the upstairs has a café where people can meet to share food and a drink.
